Chargers win season opener! 02 Sep 11

The Goodridge-Grygla Chargers, defending Section 8 9-man Champions, opened the 2011 football season with a convincing 48 to 6 win over Park Christian of Moorhead on Thursday night, September 1st in Goodridge. The Chargers were led by junior running back Daniel Polansky. Polansky carried the ball 11 times for 202 yards and had 4 rushing touchdowns. Polansky also returned an interception 27 yards for another score. The Park Christian Falcons tallied just once, capatilizing on a Charger turnover mid-way through the first quarter for their only score of the night. While most elements of the Charger game were clicking on cylinders, one glaring sore spot will be penalties. Goodridge-Grygla was penalized 16 times for over 110 yards in the event.

Park Christian was playing its first ever varsity game. Student/Athletes at Park have been part of a co-op with Oak Grove of Fargo for the past decade. The Falcons are part of Section 6.

Goodridge-Grygla finished the night with 396 yards in total offense, while a stingy Charger defense held Park Christian to just 127 yards on 53 plays.

The Charges are back in action on Friday, September 9th, when they host Section rival Kittson County Central.
