Storm Survive Bearcat Onslaught To Stay Undefeated 16 Sep 11

The Stephen/Argyle Storm recovered from first game blitzing at the hands of the Kittson County Central Bearcats to win a hard fought match Thursday night in high school volleyball action 3 to 1. Kittson County Central’s Senior Libero Sierra Karboviak put a a 5 service point run to start game one and Sophomore Britta Rynning finished the opening contest with 10 straight service points and the Bearcats dominated with a 25 – 5 win. Stephen/Argyle got things going in game 2 with a early service run of their own and evened the match with a 25 – 14 win. Game 3 would see the Bearcats burst out of the gates again. This time the Storm battled back and after both teams had a chance to serve for the win, it would be Stephen/Argyle taking a 2 to 1 lead 29-27. Game 4 would be back and forth early before the Storm would finish off the victory 25 to 22. Karboviak would lead the Bearcats at the service line with 17 points, while Senior Paige Craigmile added 11 kills and 5 blocks at the net. Stephen/Argyle Junior Brooklyn Hanson was tops at the service line with 12 points and Senior Courtney Gruhot had 12 kills. The Storm improved to 5 and 0 with the win, while the Bearcats fell to 4 and 5.
