It was a record breaking night for the Thief River Falls Girl’s Basketball Team on Tuesday. The Prowlers rolled to a 91 to 50 win over the Roseau Rams, setting a new single game high point total. The 91 points scored, surpasses the previous single game high point total of 88, set in a game against East Grand Forks in the 1990/91 season. The previous high point output this season for Thief River Falls was 85, also against the Rams in a December win.
After a tight first eight minutes of play the Prowlers would explode on a 20-0 point run…powered by the hot shooting of Lindsey Guzek and Brooke Yaggie. Between the two Prowler players they knocked down four 3-pointers and were 9-for-10 from the free throw line to pace Thief River Falls to a 50 to 28 half time lead. With the game in hand in the second half, it was the Prowler benches time to shine. Brooke Anderson and Maddison Brekke each had ten off the bench, and 8th grader Maleah Biermaier added 7 points.
The Roseau Rams struggled most of the night. Offensively Madison Millner had a solid night on the baseline and in the paint…but the Rams struggled shooting from the perimeter. What the Rams did do well, was get a hand of the basketball, forcing a number of Prowler turn-overs.
It was the 12th straight win for the Prowlers, who last lost on December 6th to Bemidji. Thief River Falls is now 13-and-2 on the season, and will host the Hibbing Bluejackets (8-and-6) this Friday evening at the “Brickhouse” at Lincoln High School. The game will be broadcast on KTRF.
The Roseau Rams fall to 2-and-10 on the year. The Rams will host the Warroad Warriors this Thursday in Roseau.
