With precinct caucuses less than a week away, Republican presidential hopefuls continue their march into Minnesota. Mitt Romney made his first campaign stop in the state yesterday, fresh off Tuesday’s big win in Florida.
Former Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty joined Romney at Freightmasters, a trucking company in Eagan. GOP rival Rick Santorum made a campaign stop in Luverne on Monday night. Ron Paul was in St. Cloud last November.
Meanwhile, Caucus Night a date you’ll want to put on the calendar – held Statewide beginning at 7pm next Tuesday. Pennington County Auditor and Chief Election Officer, Ken Olson, says it is the ground floor of grass roots politics. Olson says the local meetings are organized by the state’s political parties – to elect party officers and delegates and begin the process of selecting candidates for the November Election, and discuss policy positions that will shape the party platform.
Caucuses are open to the public – participation is encouraged.
In Pennington County the Republicans will caucus at the Franklin Middle School Cafeteria, the DFL Party will caucus at the Heritage Community Center …
In Red Lake County Democrats will caucus at Huges Elementary School in Red Lake Falls and Republicans will caucus at the Brooks Community Center …
In Marshall County Republicans will caucus at the Marshall County Central School in Newfolden, Democrats will caucus at the Newfolden Community Center …
And in Kittson County Democrats will caucus at the Hallock Senior Center while Republicans will caucus at the Kittson County Court House.
No caucus locations are posted for Minnesota’s Independent Party, but the Green Party will caucus at the Crookston Public Library.
