The start of February means full steam ahead for Minnesota’s tax filing season.
Carrie Resch at the I-R-S says employers had through Tuesday to mail “W-2s” and related tax forms to employees and she says it’s important to keep those documents in a safe place to avoid the risk of identity theft.
Meanwhile, Free Tax Assistance will be available beginning tomorrow and every Friday that follows, from 9am to 2pm during the tax season – at the Heritage Community Center in Thief River Falls.
The assistance is available to elderly, the disabled, and low income families, sponsored by the IRS and AARP. Sponsors say you must bring all income information including; Social Security, Pension or Retirement, your 10-99, Interest, Home Mortgage, Dividend Statements, IRA Gambling Winnings, etc.
There is more information available by contacting Garnet at 218-563-2753.
