One man has died, another is in custody in an apparent stabbing yesterday in Crookston.
According to Police Chief Tim Motherway, 27 year old Jacob Abel was taken into custody after officers found him in a hallway at the Broadway Apartments – #1500 North Broadway in Crookston – holding a knife.
Officers say Abel dropped the knife when he was ordered to and was taken into custody without incident. Inside the apartment they found a white male, deceased from apparent stab wounds.
Chief Motherway says the name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of relatives. The Chief says officers responded to call for assistance just before 10am yesterday morning, after the report of a man with blood on him, holding a knife, standing in an apartment hallway.
An autopsy has been ordered with the body of the victim transported to the UND Department of Forensic Pathology in Grand Forks. The case is being investigated by the Crookston Police Department and the State Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
