TRF Man Dies in Kittson County Accident 17 Feb 12

A Thief River Falls man died yesterday following a 2 vehicle accident in Kittson County.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, 66 year old Larry Wayne Rahn died yesterday at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, after the accident Thursday afternoon on Highway #59, 4 miles north of Lancaster.

The driver of the second vehicle, 63 year old Randal Caudill and his wife, Twyla, of Warren, Manitoba – were also injured in the accident reported just before 3 o’clock yesterday afternoon. Both were taken to Kittson Memorial Health Care in Hallock where they were treated for injuries that were not believed to be life threatening.

According to State Troopers, the Rahn vehicle was east bound on 3 hundred 60th Street, a gravel road intersecting the Highway, when he failed to stop at the intersection, striking the Caudill vehicle, also a Chevy Van, which was north bound on Highway #59.

Officers say the Caudills were both wearing seat belts. Rahn was not. He was thrown from his vehicle. Rahn was taken to the Hallock Hospital, then by Life Flight to Sanford where he died. Airbags in both vehicles deployed – both vehicles were totaled in the accident. State Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Kittson County Sheriff’s Department.
