Legumex, a Canandian Specialty Grain Company, has purchased two local seed houses, in an agreement announced just last week.
The St. Hilaire Seed Company in St. Hilaire and Anderson Seed in Mentor – Both owned by Ron Anderson of Mentor – have been purchased for 19 million dollars. The deal includes the processing plant in St. Hiliare along with 6 receiving stations in North Dakota and Minnesota and the assets of Anderson Seed, with a processing plant in Mentor and 2 storage operations in North Dakota.
St. Hilaire Seed is one of the largest dry bean processors in the United States.
Legumex Walker was formed in 2011, processing lentils, peas, beans, chickpeas and other specialty crops and canola. It has 11 processing plants and owns 85 percent of Pacific Coast Canola, with a canola oilseed processing plant now under construction in Washington State.
