The Thief River Falls Board of Education approved a number of contracts and construction bids during their meeting Monday.
Education correspondent Lee Richards says the Board approved a recommendation to post for bids for the Franklin Middle School parking lot, approved the low bid for lockers at CES and LHS for almost $264,000, Okayed 2012 summer positions, and terminated the contracts of three probationary teachers.
The Board also approved contracts for the Lincoln High School work. General construction will be handled by Peterson Construction from Grand Forks, plumbing from Lunseth Plumbing & Heating from Grand Forks, Electrical from Bergstrom Electric from TRF and fire protection from Gorham-Oien from Mora, Minnesota.
Superintendent Laine Larson said the district is looking for people to test drive some automobiles on Wednesday as a benefit to the local district. The Local Ford dealership is one of several across the nation to be selected for the program. One member from each family can test drive one of six Ford cars and the district will earn $20 per driver. Up to 300 drivers are invited to drive a car which will garner $6000 for the district. The money will be used for programs for student services. The vehicles will be available for test drives from 11a-5pm.
