The Northern Freeze opened Northwest Diamond Conference play on Tuesday with a dominating 17 to 2 win over the Bearcats of Kittson County Central. Offensively the Freeze worked their way through four Bearcat pitchers, spreading 20 hits through the line-up. Racking up big innings in both the second and third, when they sent 10 players to the plate in both innings.
The Freeze also got a solid performance on the mound from Blake LaBine. LaBine gave up the two runs on just 5 hits and struck out seven through four innings for the win. Jeremy Kasprowicz threw a 1-2-3 top of the 5th to wrap up the game.
Kittson County Central mounted a brief rally in the third inning, stringing together four, two out singles, to push a couple of runs across the plate.
The Freeze are now 2-and-3 on the season and will play the Red Lake County Rebels on Thursday, April 26th in Red Lake Falls. The game will be hear on KTRF. Kittson County Central is now 0-and-4 on the season and will be back in action on Tuesday, May 1st against the Greyhounds in Fosston.
