Thief River Falls Activities Director, Mike Biermaier, has announced that the Thief River Falls School District has hired Joe Wasfaret as the Head Boys Basketball Coach for the upcoming 2012-13 season.
According to the press release from the School District: Joe graduated from Ulen Hitterdal in 2001 where he was a three-sport athlete competing in Football, basketball, and track. He earned all conference awards and was a captian for football and basketball.
Joe attended and played football at NCTC after high school. He also was the assistant basketball coach from 2003-08. In the 2006-07 season they were the national runner-up.
In 2010 Joe became the head coach at EGF Sacred Heart. He coached the Eagles for 2 seasons and now is very excited to take over the Prowler program.
Joe says; “I’m honored to be the next Boys Basketball coach at Thief River Falls High School. Having Lived in Thief River Falls for five years I know the great pride that goes into Prowler athletics. I’m looking forward to working with the boys and other coaches to continue the great success of Prowlers Boys basketball.”
Biermaier noted that “We are very pleased to have Joe take over our boys basketball program and look forward to what he will bring to the future of Prowler basketball.”
Wasfaret takes over the program from Chris McLean, who has been on the Prowler Coaching Staff since 2001.
