The Ag Community will say goodbye with memorial services Friday for the beloved one time director of the Pennington County ASCS – Phil Bergland – who died Tuesday at Sanford Hospital in Fargo.

Phil was a native of Roseau and a graduate of the University of Minnesota who went on to serve overseas with the Agency for International Development before returning to Minnesota. As ASCS Director, he saw the area through the Farm Crisis of the 1970′s and 80′s and into the transition that became the Farm Service Agency … He will be remembered for his wisdom and direction during the most difficult of times, his ability to transition and lead into better times and his devotion to community and family.

Services will be held Friday afternoon at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls.
