It was hard hats all-around for the Thief River Falls Board of Education Monday night. Education Correspondent Lee Richards tagged along as The Board took a tour of the construction site at Lincoln High School prior to their regular meeting. Members were told all the old brick and steel will be re-cycled. Currently, there are about 50 workers on site putting in 10-12 hours a day, six days a week. There will be more workers as the project progresses.
During the regular meeting, the board approved changes to student handbooks for LHS and FMS. One change at Lincoln will be a recommendation that students coming into the district from another district or those that are home-schooled, will be eligible for Senior Honor Student as long as they meet requirements from their home school or their previous school district.
Board members also approved a resolution setting the period for filing dates for the General Election in November from July 31st to August 14th. Three positions will be on the ballot.
Superintendent Laine Larson told the Board that construction updates are held every Tuesday at 9am at LHS and 10:30 at CES.
