Progress on the New Pennington County Justice Center and upgrades to the Emergency 911 System were before the Pennington County Board of Commissioners, meeting in regular session this week.
Pennington County Sheriff Ray Kuznia asked the Board to approve a budgeted item. The E911 system will see an automation update. Money was taken from the 911 fund for equipment upgrade and installation.
Sheriff Kuznia also had an update on the progress being made in construction of the Pennington County Justice Center, saying the project is falling behind schedule due in part to State issued permits.
Demolition has begun at the Justice Center site with Sheriff Kuznia reporting the garage area has been gutted and cement pouring will begin soon.
The Pennington County Board approved the plan to remodel and expand the law enforcement center and jail, after the current facility failed recent State Corrections inspections. Financial projections showed new construction would be cheaper than housing costs and additional staff to fund inmate transport to other facilities.
