Critical Injury in Tuesday Night Accident 08 Mar 17

A Vesta area man was critically injured last night in an accident near Lake Bronson, in Kittson County.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, 43 year old Vernon Lee Walseth suffered life threatening injuries when the vehicle he was driving rolled on Highway #59 in Percy Township.

Walseth was taken to Altru Hospital in Grand Forks; an updated condition report was not immediately available.

Officers say the Walseth vehicle; a 2005 Chevy Aveo – was northbound on the highway when the car veered onto the right shoulder of the highway, Walseth over-correcting; State Troopers say he ejected from the Chevy as it rolled into the southbound ditch.

According to the report Walseth was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, reported Tuesday evening just before 11pm. Road conditions are described as “dry” at the time and it is not clear if last night’s high winds and low visabilities played a role, although officers do say alcohol may have been a factor in the accident.
