Deer Through Windshield Injures Driver 09 Mar 17

One person was injured last night in a two vehicle accident involving a deer on Highway #32, north of Thief River Falls in Excel Township.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, 45 year old Steven Ray Gross of Salol, suffered non-life threatening injuries when a deer struck by another vehicle came through the windshield of his Ford Van.

The driver of the second vehicle, 20 year old Douglas Peterson of Thief River Falls, was not injured in the accident.

State Troopers say the Gross vehicle was southbound near 2 hundred 80th Street Northeast, when the deer – struck by Peterson’s Chevy Monte Carlo – was thrown up and through the windshield of the Ford, striking Gross in the driver’s seat.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident, reported just before 8pm. Officers say alcohol was not a factor in the accident ..

State Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department.
