TRF PD: Getting Spring Clean-Up Underway 17 Apr 17

As spring blooms into summer, the Thief River Falls Police Department is reminding residents to “clean it up” or face charges under City Code.

Deputy Chief Craig Mattson says three ordinances prohibit unsightly yard refuse that can also attract vermin and noxious weeds, including the collection inside the city limits of junk vehicles; defined under city code as, “three years old or older, inoperable with damage including broken or missing wheels, motor, drive train or transmission; without current registration and with fair market value approximate only to the value of scrap.

Other regulations prohibit the accumulation of discarded machinery, appliances, auto bodies, or material that would harbor vermin or allow the growth of rank vegetation or noxious weeds – or create a fire, health or safety hazard.

Mattson says anyone with questions should contact the Thief River Falls Police Department, 681-6161.
