City Council Evaluated by Outside Consultant 03 May 17

When it comes to staff performance evaluation, Thief River Falls City Officials have apparently decided to make an example of themselves, with Consultant Michelle Landverk last night delivering a straight-forward, public evaluation of Council performance including, strengths, perceptions and areas for improvement.

The evaluation was delivered during last night’s regular City Council Session. Strengths were many, they included Mayoral Leadership, community betterment and project completion, and successful partnerships with the County and School District.

When it came to areas for improvement, communication was number one, specifically inter-council respect when conflicting ideas clash, and the council was evenly divided when it came to communication between city staff and the city council, half saying staff was doing all they could to support the council, half saying staff needs to be more open when it comes to council demands, especially within individual committees.

Also last night, the Council awarded previously approved Water Revenue Bonds of up to $5.5 million in funding for plant improvements and relocation of lime sludge ponds, and approved bids for more than $1 million in 2017 Street and Utility Improvements.

You can see it all for yourself when last night’s city council meeting is rebroadcast tonight, in living color, beginning at 8pm, on Sjoberg’s Cable Channel #13 and on-line at
