City/County Contract Unlikely 19 May 17

Thanks, but no thanks …

Mayor Brian Holmer says the city is unlikely to pursue a contract with Pennington County for space at the former Thief River Falls City Auditorium.

Mayor Holmer said this week on River Currents they are more likely to utilize the former HDR Building – next to the Fire Hall; which has been leased commercially in the past but has been vacant for about a year. Holmer says the building is wired for technology, something that would need to be upgraded at the City Auditorium site.

The city has been searching for space to relocate Electric Department Staff; in hope of vacating the Municipal Services Building by June 30th, in advance of the potential, local expansion of Digi-Key. Materials and equipment is being stored where ever space can be found, all across the city ..

Digi-Key made an offer for the Municipal Services property earlier this spring but the deal is still unresolved after the Council tabled the matter in favor of an appraisal and a counter offer earlier this year.
