Challenger Cuts Full Time Music Position 28 Jun 17

The Thief River Falls Board of Education met in regular session Monday.

According to Education Correspondent, Lee Richards, the School Board approved 2017-2019 contracts  for Transportation Director Ronnie Skallet and Volunteer Director Maryfran Twistol.  Special recognition to Skallet who came up with plans for adding items for a new bus that other schools have seen and decided to copy.

The Board also eliminated a full time music position at Challenger Elementary School to open up a position for a reading specialist.

Board approval was given on the 2017-2018 budget and approved food service prices for the upcoming school year. Food services director Rhonda Amundson and her department received a Certificate of Recognition for their participation as a Super Hero of School Nutrition Programs.  Amundson told the Board the Summer Meals Program has seen a jump in the number of participants compared to the first ten days of last year’s program.

4,4 66 kids were served so far this year compared to 3,834 last year.
