Textron Moves all ATV/UTV Production to TRF 04 Jul 17

Stampede, Textron Off-Road, and Arctic Cat all to be built Thief River Falls.

That was the announcement finalized this week; as Textron prepares to expand from seasonal to year round manufacturing at the Thief River Falls Plant, purchased as part of the Arctic Cat acquisition in May.

Saying they are prepared to invest “substantially” in Thief River Falls, Textron Communications Director Brandon Haddock outlined a Round-Robin of facility changes, including expansion to year-round operation locally to encompass all side-by-side and ATV models.

The move ends ATV and UTV production in Atlanta, Georgia; which will switch to Jacobson Turf Care and other equipment after that production line is relocated from Charlotte, North Carolina.

Haddock says closure of former Arctic Cat Headquarters in Minneapolis is also moving forward with those operations to be consolidated in St. Cloud, where Textron is moving engine production after closing one of two German manufacturing plants.

Haddock says the Thief River Falls plant has the capacity to take in the company’s side-by-side and ATV volume; taking advantage of the new paint line and other facility improvements that were part of a 26 million dollar renovation in 2015.

Although expanding production lines is not expected to result in more jobs, workers will be able to move from seasonal to year-round employment.

Haddock says the Arctic Cat Snowmobile line will also continue to be produced in Thief River Falls.
