Land Sale on City Council Agenda Tonight 18 Jul 17

The Thief River Falls City Council meets in Regular Session tonight, with a number of items on the agenda, including a $15,000 land sale to allow for a complete property transaction in the private sale of Quality Farm Supply, North of City Hall at 412 Atlantic Avenue

City Administrator Rodney Otterness says the city owns the land under the building, which they have been leasing to Quality Farm Supply. If approved tonight the transaction is expected to facilitate a commercial sale of the property.

Council members are also expected to approve Banding and Grading and authorize posting for the new position of Information Technology Specilist, and set August 15th as the Public Hearing date on a new, Economic Development Authority. The council is also expected to accept a low bid of just under $320,000 to replace equipment at the Water Treatment Plant, part of the Lime Sludge Relocation Project.

On Consent Agenda this evening, Aldermen are expected to move ahead with an Alternative Urban Area Wide Review, critical to the Digi-Key Expansion Project and contribute just over $1,200 to the Downtown Development Association’s Central Business Design Project. The contribution would complete funding for the $26,000 project, with the lion’s share from grants through the Northwest Minnesota Foundation, the U of M Community Partnership and the Center for Urban and Regional Affairs.

Tonight’s meeting begins at 5:30 at City Hall, the Historic Soo Line Depot.
