Zimmerman Charged in District Court 18 Jul 17

A Pennington County Peace Officer is free on his personal recognizance, following a citation Friday on Domestic Assault Charges.

42 year old Chief Investigator, Blaize Zimmerman, made his first appearance Monday before District Judge Jeffery Remick in Polk County District Court in Crookston. He is charged with one misdemeanor count of Domestic Assault – following an incident at a home on 158th Street Northeast in Thief River Falls, reported at 1:45 last Friday afternoon.

Judge Remick issued a Criminal Domestic Abuse No Contact Order and released Zimmerman on condition he complete the booking process – does not enter the victim’s residence and remains law abiding with no breach of the peace.

Sheriff Ray Kuznia said this morning Zimmerman – who has worked for the Department for some 20 years – has been taken off active duty.

According to court documents obtained by our News Room this morning; Pennington County Attorney Alan Rogalla has named Polk County Attorney Greg Widseth as Special Prosecutor in the case.

According to court officials no criminal complaint filed, with only a ticket issued in the case.

A Police/Incident Report included in the Minnesota Courts file is considered confidential as long as the case remains under investigation.
