Downtown Development Association Initiating Master Plan 07 Aug 17

They are calling it a “New Beginning”, a master plan for Downtown Thief River Falls initiated by the Downtown Development Association with the third in a series of Community Meetings next week.

In conjunction with the U of M, the Downtown Development Association has held a pair of meetings with community members on the city’s assets and opportunities and what they would like to see to improve the business climate.  The recent closing of retail store Penny’s has caused additional concerns.

Called “A New Beginning,” community leaders and members of the public have met with a couple of representatives of the “U” to come with some ideas.  The university team will be returning to the city for another meeting August 17 to present a draft for some fine tuning.

In a recent interview with TRF Radio, Chamber of Commerce Director Ashley Nerhus said persons who were unable to attend the meetings can view some of the material online at

Nerhus has been taking a survey and gathering input online from the community they will be considering. She said the place and time of the next meeting has been tentatively set for 6:30pm at the Chamber office.
