Kittson County Man Sentenced to More Than a Decade Behind Bars 07 Aug 17

A Kittson County Man has been sentenced to more than 11 years in prison on federal charges of Distribution of Child Pornography.

James Paramore, 45, plead guilty earlier this year, with sentencing just last month.

The charges were based on an investigation by the Kittson County Sheriff’s Department and the Minnesota BCA, with a cyper-tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, referencing a Flickr account containing child porn.

Flickr is a photo / video hosting website used widely to archive and print photos and photo products.

The tip led to the execution of a search warrant at Paramore’s Lake Bronson home, and the recovery of hundreds of pornographic images involving children. Investigators say Paramore had used VPN Encryption to attempt to hide his identity. VPN or Virtual Private Network; a kind of secret tunnel, connecting computers directly to a server.

Also collected from the home, Facebook conversations and handwritten logs detailing porn websites along with detailed notes on how to prevent law enforcement detection.

Paramore will serve 11 years and 3 months on the federal charges along with an additional 25 years supervised probation.
