Kindergarten Enrollment up at TRF School 15 Aug 17

The Thief River Falls Board of Education met in regular session Monday.

Among items on the agenda the Board approved a recommendation to eliminate the position of Teacher on Special Assignment as Dean of Students at Challenger Elementary School.  The Board then approved a recommendation to approve the 2017-2019 contract of Brian Loe as Dean of Students as Challenger Elementary.  Superintendent Bradley Bergstrom said Loe has the credentials and will be a good fit.

Bergstrom also stated early estimates had predicted kindergarten enrollment would be between 140-150 students.  Because of the job market, new housing, and a number of phone calls, enrollment numbers are currently at 162.  He recommended in order to keep class size at manageable levels, the Board should post for an additional kindergarten teacher.  The district agreed to advertise for a full time position.
