A Miss Minnesota/Miss North Dakota Hug of Congratulations 09 Sep 17

It was a huge, network television hug Sunday Night, as Miss Minnesota Brianna Drevlow congratulated the newly crowned Miss America; Bismarck native and Miss North Dakota, Cara Mund, as the pageant was broadcast live from Atlantic City, New Jersey on the ABC Network.

Bette Jorgenson of Thief River Falls has been our eye on the scene for the past week; through all activities and preliminary competition and spoke to us last night after the Final Pageant from Boardwalk Hall.

Bette says and says she was “mind boggled” when the initial top 15 were named; the list missing two preliminary talent winners, Miss Minnesota Brianna Drevlow and Miss Utah. Jorgenson says both were outstanding with talent 35% of the score; but also said the contest is so subjective, adding – with a touch of humor – if Miss Minnesota could not be named Miss America; Miss North Dakota – earning the title for a first time – “was a good choice.”

The evening capped nearly a week of activities; a life-long dream for the 23 year old Drevlow, a native of Thief River Falls and graduate of Lincoln High School, now pursuing a Masters in Music Composition from Bowling Green State University.
As the reigning Miss Minnesota, Drevlow represented the state on the runway in Atlantic City, was nominated for a National Award in Community Service and won Thursday’s Preliminary Talent Competition, earning another $2000 in college scholarships.
