City Council Adds Their Name to Flood Damage Reduction Petition 22 Sep 17

It’s called Westside Flood Damage Reduction, petitioned by the city of Thief River Falls and soon by Pennington County, in partnership with the Red Lake Watershed District to create a better system of drainage in an urban area that is seeing rapid expansion and growth.

The Thief River Falls City Council this week adopted a proposal adding their name to the petition, the first step in creating a strategic plan focused on diverting Urban and Agricultural drainage along Pennington County Ditch 70, on Thief River Falls West Side.

Thief River Falls Public Service Director, Mark Borseth, says timing on the petition is also important, with the Minnesota Department of Transportation planning road improvements in that same area, including a proposed “round-about” at the Highway 1 and 59 Intersection.
