BCA Releases Names in Officer Involved Shooting 03 Oct 17

The State Bureau of Criminal Apprehension has identified two Becker County Sheriff’s Deputies, in an officer involved shooting that closed a section of Highway #10 last week.

According to the BCA, Patrol Sergeant Dan May and Deputy Daran Borth both fired weapons during the incident just east of Audubon.

The suspect apprehended at the scene, Dean Minnerath, 55, of West Fargo was hospitalized at Essentia Health in Fargo with gunshot wounds.

According to the BCA, officers were responding to the report of a person threatening “to kill people” when they saw the suspect vehicle north bound on a county road and gave pursuit, joined by the Minnesota State Patrol as the suspect pulled east on US Highway #10, speeds exceeding 95 miles per hour. A passenger in the Minnerath vehicle was interviewed and released.

Body camera’s were not worn by any of the officers involved, although squad cameras may have captured some of the altercation.
