TRF Man Escapes Injury in Fatal Hwy 75 Accident 10 Oct 17

One person died, a Thief River Falls man escaped injury in the collision between an SUV and a semi tractor-trailer rig this morning south of Climax.

36 year old Jason Jerome Nelson of Neilsville died at the scene of the crash.

State Troopers say the driver of the semi; 21 year old Dalton Fredrickson of Thief  River Falls, was not injured – the accident reported just before 7 0′clock this morning on Highway #75 in Hubbard Township, Polk County.

According to the initial report, both vehicles were northbound; the semi stopped to turn west on 4 hundred 10th Street, when the 1999 Chevy Blazer struck the back of the semi-trailer.

Sgt. Jesse Grabow says the driver who died was unbelted and unrestrained. Fredrickson was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, which remains under investigation. The accident – 2 miles south of Climax – disrupted traffic on Highway #75 for a time this morning and motorists are advised to continue to use caution in the area.
