(Cooperstown, NY)  –  Jack Morris, Don Mattingly and Tommy John are among 10 candidates on the Modern Era ballot for the Hall of Fame class of 2018.  Steve Garvey, Marvin Miller, Dale Murphy, Dave Parker, Ted Simmons, Luis Tiant and Alan Trammell are also on the Modern Era ballot, which recognizes those whose biggest contributions came from 1970 to 1987.  A 16-person committee will vote, with 75% needed for election.  The results will be revealed on December 10th at the baseball winter meetings in Florida.

(Boston, MA)  –  The Bruins reeled off four-straight goals to open a big lead and held on to clip the Wild 5-3 in Boston.  Mikael Granlund and Eric Staal tallied third-period goals to pull Minnesota within one.  Nino Niederreiter also lit the lamp as the Wild lost for the third time in four games.  They continue their four-game road trip tomorrow in Toronto.

(Oakland, CA)  –  The Timberwolves open up a three-game west coast road trip tomorrow night in Oakland against the Golden State Warriors.  Minnesota will also visit Phoenix and Utah on the trek.  The Wolves have won five in-a-row after Sunday’s 112-94 victory over Charlotte.  They are 7-and-3 overall.

(Eden Prairie, MN)  –  Coming out of their bye week, the first-place Vikings are back to work preparing for Sunday’s road game at the Washington Redskins.  The Vikings have won four in-a-row to move atop the NFC North at 6-and-2.  The Redskins are 4-and-4.

(Minneapolis, MN)  –  Derek Shelton is the new bench coach of the Twins.  The 47-year-old most recently served as the quality control coach for the Blue Jays.  Shelton has 13 years of big league coaching experience.  He replaces Joe Vavra, who left for Detroit.

(Minneapolis, MN)  –  The Golden Gophers are gearing up for their game against Nebraska on Saturday at TCF Bank Stadium.  Minnesota fell to 4-and-5 including 1-and-5 in Big Ten play with a 33-10 setback at Michigan this past Saturday.  The Cornhuskers enter the tilt 4-and-5 and 3-and-3.

(Minneapolis, MN)  –  The 15th-ranked Golden Gophers basketball team begins the season on Friday hosting South Carolina Upstate at Williams Arena.  Minnesota looks to build off its 24-win season from last year.
