(Saint Paul, MN)  –  Eric Staal scored two of the Wild’s three goals in the third period leading them to a 4-2 victory over the Golden Knights at Xcel Energy Center.  Staal put Minnesota in front at 12:05 and sealed the win with an empty-netter in the closing seconds as the Wild snapped a two-game skid.  Mikael Granlund and Jonas Brodin also scored in the win.  The Wild host the Blues tomorrow before hitting the road.

(Oklahoma City, OK)  –  The Timberwolves take on Russell Westbrook and the Thunder tonight in Oklahoma City.  Minnesota has traded wins and losses over its last six games following Wednesday’s 120-102 rout of the Pelicans in New Orleans.  The Wolves sit at 13-and-9 on the season.  The Thunder are 8-and-12.

(Atlanta, GA)  –  The Vikings take their seven-game winning streak into Atlanta to face the Falcons on Sunday.  The Vikings posted a 30-23 win in Detroit on Thanksgiving to extend their lead in the NFC North to three games over the Lions.  Minnesota is 9-and-2 overall.  The Falcons have won three straight and currently hold the second NFC wild card spot at 7-and-4.

(Minneapolis, MN)  –  The 12th-ranked Golden Gophers look to bounce back on Sunday when they host Rutgers at Williams Arena.  Minnesota fell to 7-and-1 on the season with Wednesday’s 86-81 home loss to 13th-ranked Miami.  Rutgers is 6-and-1.

 

(Fargo, ND)  –  The North Dakota State Bison are preparing for their showdown with San Diego in the second round of the FCS Playoffs on Saturday in Fargo.  The Bison had a first-round bye after going 10-and-1 during the regular season.  The Toreros topped Northern Arizona 41-10 on Saturday to advance.
