City Council Expected to Approve Job Changes 19 Dec 17

The Thief River Falls City Council tonight is expected to approve changes in job descriptions and finalize positions for employees that had been assigned as “interim” since the initiation of a reorganization plan in October.

The plan will include salary adjustments, for Public Works Director Mark Borseth, Arena Manager Melissa Sletten, Parks Foreman Mike Olson and Street/Sanitation Foreman John Cervantes. The change after the City Council this fall released and eliminated the position of Park and Rec Director Joe Amundson.

As far as overall staff, the council recently also hired a new IT Position and will also implement a 1% increase in budgeted salaries next year. In spite of the changes, City Administrator Rod Otterness, says the city is on-board to reduce salary costs by some $78,000 next year.

In other business tonight the council will be asked to increase Water/Waste Water and Electric Rates effective with the January Billing, approve the 2018 Budget and Property Tax Levy and call for a feasibility report on next summer’s Street and Utility Improvements.

Tonight’s meeting gets underway at 5:30 at City Hall, the Historic Soo Line Depot.
