Greenbush Officials Praise Local Fire Department 19 Dec 17

“We are blessed to have an awesome fire department.”

Greenbush City Clerk/Treasurer Anita Locken this morning, after fire fighters saved two Main Street businesses in less than a week, the latest fire Sunday at Squid’s Market, and last Thursday at the Greenbush Pharmacy.

Locken says Squid’s Market is open for business today, in the two hundred block of Main Street North.  The Greenbush Pharmacy is scheduled to reopen in two weeks, in the one hundred block, also on Main Street North.

Squid’s, which specializes in fresh meats and produce, suffered the smokey fire Sunday in one of their store compressors. The Greenbush Pharmacy was forced to temporarily close following a fire in an electrical box.

We talked this morning with Locken and Greenbush Mayor Brenda Sather, who confirmed plans for the pharmacy to reopen in the New Year. Managed by Warren Worker, the Greenbush Pharmacy is owned by the Mattson Pharmacy in Roseau.

No injuries are reported in either fire, as volunteers worked to contain the blaze and save the business involved. Locken today praised the work of the Greenbush Fire Department, saying both businesses are critical to residents and the down town business community.

Squids, by the way, will be open special holiday hours, this Saturday 8am to 6pm and Sunday, Christmas Eve Day, 8am to noon
