Housley Says She’ll Run for Senate 20 Dec 17

A Minnesota Republican state senator has announced her intention to run for the U.S. Senate Seat being vacated by Al Franken.

State Senator Karin Housley says she’ll run for the U.S. open Senate seat in November.

Housley is a realtor who lives in St. Mary’s Point, and is the first Republican to formally announce candidacy.

Franken announced last week that he would resign, with Governor Mark Dayton appointing Lt. Governor Tina Smith to serve during the interim.

Smith says she will run as a candidate in her own right, on the Democratic ticket next November.
