Political Insiders Urge Franken to Reconsider Resignation 20 Dec 17

7th District Congressman Collin Peterson is suggesting Senator Al Franken acted too quickly when he announced his resignation amid accusations of sexual misconduct.

Peterson, from Detroit Lakes, represents the listening area in the US House of Representatives.

Although he has not yet officially submitted his resignation, Senator Franken made the announcement from the Senate Floor earlier this month, saying at the urging of Senate Colleagues, he would step down, although a number of political insiders have since urged him to reconsider.

Pending that resignation, Governor Mark Dayton last week appointed Lt. Governor Tina Smith to Franken’s seat, to run as a candidate in her own right next November
