Fire Reported Goodridge School – Students Evacuated 21 Dec 17

No injuries are reported, but there were some tense moments today, after a boiler room electrical fire forced the evacuation of the Goodridge School.

Superintendent Galen Clow says the building first lost power, with the discovery of the smokey fire in an electric motor at mid-morning.

Students grabbed their winter coats and took refuge in the nearby Faith Lutheran Church as fire fighters entered and secured the building and put out the fire, with the decision to send students home early.

Today Clow thanked his office staff, scrambling to see that every student was accounted for and got home, or to their alternative home safely.

More thanks as well to the Goodridge Fire Department, Transportation Superintendent Tim Anderson and to Faith Lutheran who took in students and staff. The church is designated as an evacuation point under the District’s Emergency Plan.

Superintendent Clow says it will be business as usual tomorrow, with an on-time start for the Goodridge School District.
