Three Charged with Murder in Cabrales Death 12 Feb 18

Several suspects were arraigned this afternoon in Pennington County District Court on charges of Murder in the drug overdose death of a Thief River Falls man last week ..

Samuel Cabrales died Thursday at a home in the 1100 block of Meadow Street after police say he used a hypodermic needle to self administer a deadly dose of illicit heroine laced with fentanyl. The three people who allegedly played a part in contacting, selling and distributing the drug to Cabrales were charged Monday in Pennington County District Court.

30 year old Nicole Baker, 40 year old Aaron Zimmerman and 22 year old Nathan Mock; are charged with Murder in the Third Degree and various Controlled Substance Crimes. According to investigators; the three allegedly worked together to contact, and provide the deadly mix to Cabrales; found unresponsive by friends in the bathroom of the home – he died at the scene.

Family members say the 22 year old had been struggling with addiction, trying to quit – a tragic story told in a series of Facebook and text messages that investigators traced through a series of social media messages left on Cabrales cell phone, and the cell phones of the suspects.

Ultimately, Baker would admit to officers she knew the product was deadly, after nearly succumbing herself after “only a dusting.”

The three remain in custody this morning – along with a forth man; 36 year old Robert Bellanger-Fohrenkam – at the Pennington County Jail in Thief River Falls.
