History of Thief River Falls Radio

KTRF 1230 AM went on the air in March of 1947. KTRF is a true Broadcast Pioneer in Northwest Minnesota. KTRF was the first radio station to broadcast from the Minnesota State High School Hockey Tournament in 1948. KTRF currently broadcasts 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with a full service News, Sports, Weather, Information, Agriculture and Talk format.

KKAQ 1460 AM went on the air November 2, 1979. KKAQ became the North Country’s first all country music station. In February of 2011 KKAQ switched formats to become Thief River Falls first Classic Rock station, broadcasting 24 hours a day.

KKDQ 99.3 FM has been on the air since 1990. KKDQ provides Country Music, Weather, Ag Information and local Sports programming in Stereo, 24 hours a day.
